COEUS® provides powerful tools to help you search for awards, proposals, rolodex entries, sponsors, and persons. The Award Search and Award List (search results) windows below illustrate the COEUS® search process.
The sample below shows a search for awards funded by a specified Sponsor Code.

When you search for awards or proposals by investigator name, COEUS® also retrieves awards or proposals where the target person is a co-investigator (Co-I). The name that appears in the List window is that of the principal investigator. |

COEUS® wild cards, shown in the table below, allow the use of partial search criteria. Remember to use a space after "like".
Search for award account numbers beginning with "666"
... for sponsor name ending in "Laboratory"
... for sponsor name containing "Lab"
... for sponsor name containing "Research"
... for sponsor name containing "Air"
... for award titles containing "DNA"

Some COEUS® name fields, such as "Investigator", contain a person's full name -- first, last, and middle. When searching by last name in a full name field, enter "like %lastname%", even if you know the exact last name.
For fields actually labeled "Last name", use like %...% only if you do not know the exact last name. |

The award search examples in this section show how to use more than one row for a search. Sponsor Code 000146 and Unit 067000
Units 067000 and 068000
Sponsor Code 000146 and Units 067000 and 068000 For this type of search, the key is remembering to enter complete search criteria in each row!

Instead of doing three separate queries, the example below shows how you can retrieve several groupings of information in a single query:

Suppose you want to search for awards or proposals with an Air Force sponsor code. This includes sponsor codes beginning with 000100 and ending with 000119. The example below shows how to specify the range -- greater than or equal to (>=) 000100 and less than or equal to (<=) 000119:
A search using items in a single row invokes the logical AND. A search using multiple rows invokes the logical OR. For queries using greater than (>) or less than (<), you need to enter "and" in the second line to override the OR relation between rows; otherwise, in this example, you would retrieve all sponsor codes! |
