Green Infrastructure

Cities and States across the USA are changing their stormwater management practices, focusing on distributed green infrastructure to control stormwater runoff pollution. This project suggests how cities, and other partners such as community economic development organizations, can more purposefully integrate business development, workforce development, diversity, and opportunity for low-income communities into their green infrastructure planning. Using cases of cities leading in green infrastructure – New York, and Portland, Oregon – we note promising opportunities to support economic development and social justice in green infrastructure installations.
