Airport Transportation

Getting from Boston’s Logan Airport to the hotel and MIT can be done via public transportation or taxi. A taxi will cost approximately $25-$35. CoLab will reimburse this cost, please get receipts and submit them to Jasmine Bellitti (jasmineb@mit.edu). For those of you who prefer public transportation (which is free from the airport), take the Silver Line SL1 to South Station, and then take the Red Line Inbound to Cambridge, getting off at the Kendall/MIT station. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the station. More information about public transit to-and-from the airport can be found here.

Meals and Dining

Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days. On the night of October 21, after the first day of meetings, there will be a group dinner sponsored by CoLab in Kendall Square, Cambridge.

During the week:
During the seminar, from Monday July 15 - Friday July 19, ground transportation will be provided by a local bus company.

Cash Needs:
During the trip, breakfast and lunch are included. If you choose to be on your own for dinner, you will most likely need to pay in cash.

Travel Advice

Travel Documents

  1. Make sure you have your passport and your flight information. If you have not received your flight information please contact June Doliber at jd@tvlcoll.com
  2. Keep a printout of your packet with you in case you need it to fill out the Customs Form during the flight. You will need to write the hotel address and contact information above.

Money

  1. Inform your bank about the trip dates if you are going to use your credit and/or debit card during the trip. Also buy at least 200 Euros as emergency funds since many of you are arriving on Sunday and banks and currency exchanges will be closed until Monday. You can buy Euros at a Currency Exchange Store, for example an American Express Travel Office (http://www.amextravelresources.com/).
  2. According to the representatives of the Hotel Mondragon, most businesses in town (Arrasate-Mondragon) accept credit cards. They also mentioned that all banks exchange Dollars to Euros.

Use of Electronics and Converters

  1. In Spain electricity is 220 V and power outlets are 2-prong.
  2. If you are going to be using your laptop and/or other electronic device, bring a Step Down Voltage Converter and a 3-prong to 2-prong Converter. You can purchase these items at Radio Shack or similar stores. The price of the Voltage converter ranges from 30 to 50 dollars. The prong converters are about 5 dollars.
  3. The Hotel Mondragon will provide a couple of converters, which can be rented for 3 Euros.

  1. According to the representatives of the Hotel Mondragon, the temperature will range from high 50s (F) at night and in the morning, to high 70s (F) during the day. They recommend that participants bring jackets and layers of clothes.
