December 2 2000
Harvard University
MIT Clockwork Orange went 11-2, which was good enought to make us
tournament co-champions along with Yale and Chicago. MIT Strawberry Alarm
Clock went something like 7-6 to finish in the middle of the pack. Mike
was tournament top scorer, and Chris was 10th.

Penn Bowl X
January 26-27, 2001
University of Pennsylvania
In spite of losing a couple of games that we probably shouldn't have, we
managed to win our bracket with an 11-2 record, including three wins
where we trailed at the half. In the playoffs, we came from behind again
to beat Virginia 310-255, then beat Cornell 375-145 before losing to
eventual champions Michigan 310-175 in the semifinals.

Terrier Tussle X
February 3, 2001
Boston University
We won Terrier Tussle, avenging a preliminary round loss to Harvard by
beating them 480-275 in a double-length final in which Harvard took two
more minus-5's (seven) than we took in the entire tournament. Mike was
tournament top scorer, for which he received a box of vanilla soy milk.

NAQT Sectionals
February 10, 2001
Boston University
Thanks to two last-question losses in the prelims and an unusual schedule
which resulted in us playing 6 of our 11 games against the two teams from
Harvard, MIT A sputtered to a 6-5 record, getting eliminated in the
semifinals by Harvard A. Our stats were strong enough to comfortably earn
us a bid to NAQT nationals, though, and Mike was again tournament top
scorer, for which he received a box of "Hemp Plus" granola. It probably went well
with the soy milk.
MIT's division II team went 4-8, good enough for 7th place. Shervin was
the #4 scorer in division II.

Questions on the Crum X
March 3, 2001
Swarthmore College
We won our first 11 games comfortably, setting us up for the final with
Yale, in which we at one point trailed by a score of 200-30 before we
finally snapped to attention and came back to win 250-190. By winning the
first tournament in which he represented MIT, Ahmed matched the number of
tournament wins accumulated by his brother Samer in an illustrious 6-year
career.

NAQT Intercollegiate Championship
April 6-7, 2001
Washington University in St. Louis
We at first weren't too happy about our round-robin draw, which pitted us
against Midwestern powerhouses Chicago and Illinois as well as a strong
Wisconsin team, but we were happier after a somewhat flukish late-night
win over Illinois gave us a round robin record of 5-1. For the rest of
the tournament, we beat everyone who ended up ranked behind us and lost to
everyone who ended up ranked ahead of us (including thrice to eventual #8
Kentucky), allowing us to settle in to a very respectable 10th place.
