MIT Community Service Fund
- $2 weekly donation = 49 meals for homeless diners at Project Manna
- $10 weekly donation = 18 Braille copies of a kids' science activity book from National Braille Press
- $50 monthly donation = 20 field trips for Cambridge school children through Science Club for Girls
- $100 monthly donation = 95 students' school supplies at Tutoring Plus
United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. In 2008-09:
- Over $30 million was distributed to ensures that Children are ready to learn when they enter school, Youth stay engaged in learning and graduate able to compete and Families have stable housing and the financial stability to support both their basic needs and future success. - 798 families received help with their heat and utilities; 4,098 families received assistance for homelessness prevention through rent and mortgage assistance, and 756 families received other emergency help, such as clothing, transportation, medical or moving expenses.
- 13,000 individuals gained basic job skills needed to compete in the 21st century job market.
- 20,938 children were served in high quality programs, of which 85% were within priority communities; 143,821 youth were served in high quality after school and out-of-school time programs. Of these, over 13,000 are high risk youth.
- Through United Way’s Math, Science and Technology Initiative 1300 youth from 80 science clubs in after-school programs sparked their interest in the areas of math, science and technology through fun, hands-on activities.
