Welcome to Concourse

What is the good life for human beings, both as individuals and as members of a community? Can the study of science adequately shed light on this question? Can reflecting on the question of the good life deepen our understanding of science? Concourse offers an opportunity to engage these questions in a profound, sustained, and integrated way.

  • We offer small classes in the math and science general institute requirements (GIRs) as well as small, foundational humanities classes that explore fundamental human questions, such as the meaning of human nature, the basis and character of morality, the necessary conditions for liberty, the proper role of science, and the possibility of finding true happiness.
  • We strive not only to know, but to know how we know. Ours is an empirical and epistemological enterprise. We hope to cultivate individuals who are prepared to be thoughtful leaders of tomorrow.
  • Concourse has unique facilities to foster this intellectual community. All Concourse students have use of our community lounge where ideas and people come together, not only for study but also for informal discussions, class tutorials, weekly Friday lunches and seminars, and even spontaneous breakfasts and dinners.
