HOW TO REACTIVATE STUDENT STATUS AFTER A LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Students on a Leave of Absence have interrupted their registration
and must have their student status officially
reactivated by a Counseling Dean in Student Support Services.
Otherwise, the student will not be able to register. You are
encouraged to make an appointment with one of the Counseling Deans if
you have specific questions about your return, or if you would simply
like to talk to someone about your re-entry to MIT.
To reactivate your student status, fill out the "Request
to Reactivate Student Status After a Leave of Absence" form
available in 5-104, and return it to Student Support
Services.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATIVE TO A STUDENT`S
RETURN:
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT ALL APPROPRIATE OFFICES
REGARDING YOUR INTENTION TO RETURN.
- Your readmission is contingent upon financial clearance from
the Office
of Student Financial Services. When you are financially
cleared for registration, we will reactivate your student status.
At that time we will notify the Registrar, your advisor and
department, and other appropriate offices of your intended return.
Once your return has been processed you may pick up registration
material at the Student Service Center (11-120).
- To apply for financial aid, contact Student Financial Aid
(11-320, 253-4971). Please note, the financial aid application deadline is April15 prior to the academic year you plan to return.
- Students returning from a Leave of Absence must apply for MIT on-campus housing by filling out the online Housing Requeset Form. Students returning from a LOA are not guaranteed on-campus housing and may be placed on a waiting list.
- International students should be in contact with the
International Students Office at 77 Mass. Ave., 5-133, MIT,
Cambridge, MA 02139, 253-3795. You will need to send in a new
financial certification form. The International Students Office
will make sure that your certificate of eligibility is updated
before your return to MIT.
- Students who have been away from the Institute for more than
two academic terms are required to have a health screening. Please
contact the Health Screening Office (E23-177, 253-1777) for more
information.
