Journal Page
Friday October 1: We talked in class today about doing research (a one page bulleted list) and about finishing our web pages. This page will be used for my individual research and findings. Feel free to ask me about what I'm doing I'll be happy to share. Relevant links should also be posted here from time. ~Mary October 18: Finished Rough Draft of Preservation Strategy. Looking for research on invasive species on our islands. I'm also looking at ways to deal with these invasives. Hopefully I can post more info in a couple of days.
October 22: Doing a great deal of research to find the range of the endangered animals that occur on our islands. The information is difficult to track down. I'm currently cross referencing animals from the IUCN redlist to other information I have found to try to gain insight into their distribution. I'm also using a website in Spanish for the plants because it has the only information I can find on these species.
October 29: Busily typing out our part of the team website. Hopefully I can do this right so our team website will look really good.
November 5: Broke up into groups. I am now in the sensors group but I sense (no pun intended) that I can be of help. I know a lot of information about the flora and fauna of the islands. A lot of the people in this group concentrated on the technical while I concentrated on the biological side of the islands.
November 13: Today we went to Lindgren and found lots of information. I also went to Hayden and checked out a great book called Conservation Biology. It was really helpful. I hope to finish more of my part on invasives tonight. We addressed what we need to research in the coming weeks. Get ready for the long haul. Keystone species another important topic. Got to find more about bees on the islands.
