Begegnung mit Deutschland

First encounters with a foreign country and culture can occur in many ways: through people, language, literature, music, movies, art, travel, work; they are highly personal and often shape the future of the relationship to that country. For this year’s Lufthansa Award, express your experiences, perceptions, observations, illusions, and speculations that relate to the topic Begegnung mit Deutschland.

Any form of presentation is welcome: essay, short story, video, collage, multi-media, Web project, installation, etc. Entries in German are welcome but not required. Eligible are students enrolled in MIT-German courses during the academic year 1999/2000.

Deadline: April 19, 2000

1st Prize: Round-trip to Germany with Lufthansa and participation in a visitor program at the World-Expo 2000 in Hannover

All entries will be judged by an independent jury. Level of German will be taken into account. We are planning to publish the most interesting entries on our Web site.

All participants are cordially invited to attend the

Public Award Ceremony: April 28, 2000, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in 14E-304
