Some weeks ago someone was looking for films depicting Islam in Africa.
I don't remember someone would have mentioned _Shaihu Umar_ (1976) by
Adamu Halilu.

I happened to find a chapter concerning this film in Ukadike's Black African
Cinema on pages 121-122. The film is documentary but criticized by
Ukadike to be "simplistic in its methodology, refusing to allow any
negative portrayal of Muslim imperialism and its encounter with Africa".
There's something more about this film in Ukadike's book, if someone
is interested.
