Dear list subscribers.

I am a lecturer and researcher at the Institute for Media and Communication
at the University of Oslo, Norway.

We are interested in starting a research program on film and cinema in
Zimbabwe. Any information on what's happening, who to contact, the latest
developments etc. would be welcome.

Among the questions to be considered are: The role of the state in film
production. The role of foreign aid. The connection between financing and
the type of film being produced. The ownership of cinemas and screening of
African/ Zimbabwean films. Storytelling in an international perspective.

A group of students are travelling to Zimbabwe to do initial research on
Feb 14th. Response will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dag: This sounds very interesting. I hope when your research is done,
you'll post a notice and let us get a copy. I'll drop a few papers I have
on the Zimbabwean film industry in the mail to you today. Regards, Steve
