Manthia Diawara 1995 film is entitled Rouch in Reverse. It was
screened in New York during the AFrican Film Festival in 1996 or 1997. I'm
not sure where you could purchase it from, you might try contacting Prof.
Diawara at New York University, Other films that you may use incorporate
into the curriculum include D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation, if only for
the historic nature of the film. Also, Lumumba: Mort de la Prophete.
There are many other titles available. If you can get the catalog of
African cinema issued by California Newsreel (415.621.6196) there's a whole
section devoted to teaching African film in the classroom.
