    THE AFRICAN MEDIA REVIEW WEBSITE
    http://www.und.ac.za/und/afriprog/Afriproj/htm
    <http://www.und.ac.za/und/afriprog/Afriproj/htm>
The above Website is designed to offer in-depth African and internnational
perspectives on African cinema, video and TV, advertising, including South
African media. It offers articles on historical background, ways of making
sense of films, videos and TV on Africa, and critical reviews of individual
titles. The Website is managed by the Centre for Cultural and Media
Studies, University of Natal, Durban, South Africa (www.und.ac.za/und/ccms)
<http://www.und.ac.za/und/ccms)> . (The CCMS site is also linked to the
Murdoch University, Perth, African Cultural Studies Site.)
The African Media Review Website is linked to the African Media Program
(AMP), at Michigan State University. This US-based Program aims to take a
leading role in helping to promote representative images of Africans and
Africa, and to correct many of the prevalent negative perceptions of Africa.
To meet this goal, the AMP is creating a comprehensive database which will
include citations and reviews for all extant documentary film and video with
African content. With the help of content experts, films and videos are
evaluated on their utility of introducing Africa to U.S. audiences.
This definitive database will be kept current and linked to the World Wide
Web, allowing educators, researchers and others to access critical reviews,
summaries, minute-by-minute content inventories of particular media,
information on the instructional utility of the films and videos,
distributor information, and other pertinent data on Africa films and
videos. The AMP Website, available at <http://www.amp.msu.edu/
<http://www.amp.msu.edu/> >http://www.amp.msu.edu, is scheduled to be
    operational in early 1999.
