There were two peristyles in the House of the Faun. What is referenced as the First Peristyle is the smaller of the two, with 28 Doric columns of Nuceria tufa, a type of calcite rock found to the south of Pompeii. This peristyle belongs to the first phase of the House of the Faun. The First Peristyle had a pool and fountain at its center, and the walls were stucco.
