I talked to Eliza but didn't mark off sequences that made sense because I couldn't keep a conversation going for more than a single exchange.
I talked to julia, but I didn't want to talk about cats.
My best conversation with someone else's character: orelious. I've spoken with Chay Casso, the creator of Orelious, about it, and he told me that in 170 lines I got almost all of the responses the character could make, and barely missed the one that would send me home, ending the conversation successfully.
I had a lot of trouble creating my own characters. The main problem was me ignoring the central tenet of Eliza: always ask a question. I tried to make a character that provoked questions and answered them, causing the user to ask more questions. I failed. My 2 characters are hosed and hurt, hurt is the contest entry. Here is my longest conversation with hurt. It is 23 lines, but only the central 16-20 make sense.
