This is a conversation I had with Maur the dragon and I must admit that it is actually about three conversations that I continued after I was killed. I really did like being pushed into avoiding dying. I think that worked well. I also like the fact that if the dragon was "bored" instead of making a random comment, it would just kill you. The biggest motivation is finding out the story behind the dragon and possibly escaping death. I guess I like it because it had a mission: Edward ********** [This is an experimental simulation of a conversation with a dragon,] [and it is STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION. ] [ ] [If you don't already know, communicate with the dragon with plain ] [English. They hadn't seemed so bad when you and your companions had entered the deserted mine, led by a rumour that the Hero's Crown might have come to rest here. But you have been seperated from your friends by a rockslide, and have ended up following narrow passages and shafts leading forever downwards. You are out of food, too, and your stomach is grumbling. You break out of your thoughts, noticing that the light from your torch is no longer reflecting off of damp, rough-hewn walls. Instead, the flickering light of the torch is swallowed up by the darkness of some sort of large cavern. You glance back over your shoulder, and realize you can no longer tell where you entered the cavern. Putting aside your misgivings, you begin to stride forwards once more. All at once a sibilant voice comes out of nowhere, filling your head without a sound being made. The voice says: Well, well, a visitor. It has been a long time since anyone has come down this way. You say: hello Greetings, human... or perhaps I should call you... lunch. You say: lunch Yes, I think you will do quite nicely as lunch. But first... Tell me, human, what brought you down this way? You say: I was searching What are you looking for? You say: the Hero's Crown Ah yes, the Hero's Crown... I recall being told of the great commotion when it was taken from your precious City. (Again, you hear the peculiar hissing sound, and realize it must be dragon laughter.) You say: Did you take the crown? No, a second-rate wizard stole it and fled with it to his tower in the east. ( The dragon pauses, and then chuckles again.) It doesn't matter that I've told you, because I'm going to eat you anyways... You say: Who is this wizard? I think the wizard is called Agsbed or something like that. You say: Please don't eat me You want me to be merciful?? (The dragon sounds highly amused.) I have no respect for your human emotions of pity. You say: I can help you How do you think you could help me, human? What could you do that might possibly benefit me? You say: I can bring you food Thanks to Karithol, I have plenty of food. You cannot aid me in that way. You say: Who is Karithol Karithol is my mate. She is out hunting. You say: Why aren't you hunting? Because I cannot yet fly again! (The dragon sounds annoyed. You hear an ominous creaking, rustling noise.) Ah, my wings are almost better... soon, soon... You say: What happened to your wings? (After letting out a great, sibilant breath) Gorthold did this to me... but he paid for my injury, ah yes... You say: who is Gorthold? Gorthold? (You hear an angry hiss.) Gorthold, that accursed warrior, tried to attack me, after killing Crendenor and my sister Razimtheth... You say: What happened to him When we fought, we both injured each other gravely - but his wounds were mortal and mine were not. So I am here, alive, and he has been dead for centuries. You say: how old are you? I have now lived through twenty of your centuries. You say: I can heal your wings Now that would be very helpful... how could you heal my wings? You say: I can use magic I don't think that would work; we dragons are immune from most forms of magic, and that would interfere. You say: I can bring medicine I suppose you are going to say that you need to leave to get this medicine. I am not sure that I like this idea of yours, human. How do I know that I can trust you? You say: I am the son of the King. I would not lie to you. You are too wise. I don't care if you are the ruler of all the kingdoms - to me all you are is a human in my cave.
