the sighs arose from sorrow without torments,
out of the crowds--the many multitudes--
of infants and of women and of men.

--Dante Inferno

What is this place, this great city? Why do these people label their days with numbers, and then lament when their numbering system runs out of the numbers they like. Truely this is a strange place.

My ship touched down not long ago. I have much to lean about this place. I clearly wasn't properly trained in the language and culture.

This man, dressed in flowing robes shouts about something called ``God.'' I will find out when he is calmer, what that means. There's this other man more active than the others, who didn't have time to stop and speak with me, and a third who has little to say.

Truely, earth is a strange place.

Surely, I must have missed an important breifing before my mission here.
