project one concept

current (tentative) title: Five Minutes Until Midnight

The date: December 31, 1999. All around the United States, preparations are being made for the largest party of the millenium. But in the shadows, some are working to make sure 2000 starts off with a bit more than a bang...

The main idea of this story is to present multiple viewpoints around a terrorist attack/nuclear disaster, coinciding with the turn of the
century in 1999.  I expect it to be an overview about the progression of events up until (and perhaps a little bit past) midnight on Jan. 1, 2000.

The lexia is likely to be in frames (given that I can learn how to use them): one central frame being the current lexia, the frames surrounding
it being alternate ways of navigating through the lexia: likely one of the methods of navigation will be a clock of some sort, indicating the
progression of time in the story.  There will also be a way to get between the viewpoints of various characters in the story, perhaps through
a radio/musical reference (or perhaps television channels). There also will be links between the various characters embedded in the main lexia itself, as characters cross paths as the story progresses.

On a personal note, I'd like to use this project to explore different ideas about armageddon, a project I've wanted to do fo some time. The title
is meant to represent the old, Cold War-era symbol of being on the brink of nuclear disaster.

The structute of the story is likely to be a set of interlinked linear stories, unless I am given suggestions on better/more creative/interesting
offshoots of the idea. Likely, each character will likely have 2 -4 lexia associated with them.

Current ideas on characters:

the President of the US
a Washington reporter
an ant (or cockroach)
Dick Clark (this is New Year's, after all)
