how they shape our understanding of the Mamluk elite, their
culture, and their artistic and architectural endowments.
A Co-edited book (with Irene Bierman of UCLA) of the 1999 Kevorkian
Lectures, NYU, to be published under the tentative title A
Medieval Cairo for A Modern World.
