Porin is a transmebrane protein found in the outer membrane of mitochondria as well as in the outer membrane of gram positive bacteria. It allows hydrophillic molecules to pass through it by diffusion. This is sucrose-specific Porin from Samonella. Note the location of hydrophobic residues in the area of the protein that would be found in the membrane.
