Executive Protection
The Investigations Unit is also responsible for providing executive and dignitary protection for individuals who visit the MIT campus. The security needs and concerns are correlated between numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Often times this includes working with the F.B.I., the Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, the Massachusetts State Police, Boston Police Department, and the Cambridge Police. Some of the dignitaries visiting MIT were: Department of Elder Affairs Dr. Leo MacKay, Retired US Army General Norman Schwartzkof, Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Dr. Tony Keng Yam, Irish Peace Activist John Hume, Nokia CEO Jorma Ollila, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and president Barack Obama.
