The Honor Guard
Since his arrival to the Police at MIT in April of 2002, Lieutenant Costa has initiated many positive changes to the Department. One of these initiatives was to establish the Honor Guard to represent the Police at MIT at police funerals, parades, and other ceremonial occasions.

"The MIT Police Department honor guard set a new standard among university police forces on Tuesday, Aug. 30, when it took the field at Boston's Fenway Park to present the flag before the evening game between the Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays." (MIT News Office article written by Sarah H. Wright, published September 1, 2005)

Due to their expertise and precision, the MIT Police Honor Guard is frequently called upon to volunteer their time in various parades and community functions. Here, under the direction of Lt. Daniel Costa (left), the Honor Guard marches in the City of Cambridge's Memorial Day Parade.
