The Committee on Race and Diversity (CRD) Grants Program funds programs and activities that bring together racial, ethnic, and cultural groups to provide forums for addressing problems and concerns associated with race relations, to celebrate different cultures, and to heighten the awareness that MIT is made up of many constituencies.
The program offers students, faculty, and staff opportunities to develop meaningful projects that emphasize collaboration, enhance appreciation of difference, and highlight important issues. Recipients of CRD grants have included both groups and individuals. The breadth of the activities speaks eloquently of the ideals, hopes, imagination, and commitment of many in our community.
The CRD Grants Program funds new initiatives and, in certain instances, has contributed to annual events. Grant recipients are encouraged strongly to think of the grants program as a starting resource for projects, and to utilize an award to stimulate the interest of other areas of the Institute in race relations and cultural issues and, hopefully, to enlist support from these areas as well. Members of the grants subcommittee are happy to assist in developing and planning programs. You may contact CRD (617.253.5912) with questions.
