MIT/MSRED Education Overview

The MIT Center for Real Estate offers an unparalleled education in real estate practice. From our groundbreaking Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) degree to our professional development courses, we present programs that are rigorous, concentrated, and geared toward direct application.

MIT founded the Center in the same spirit that it established its world-renowned engineering schools — to apply academic discoveries to practical problems in effective, creative ways. Mirroring MIT's multidisciplinary approach, the Center's programs investigate every field that impacts the real estate industry — from design and development to construction, management, finance, and the law.

With the expertise available only from a premier technical institution, we draw on resources that include the MIT School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the School of Engineering, the Department of Economics, and the Sloan School of Business Management.

We seek focused, committed applicants who want to apply their intellectual gifts to the task of building better living and working environments for people around the world. Most students come to the Center with considerable experience in industry. Our unique community of learning joins younger students with older students and professionals, all sharing a passion for scientific rigor applied to concrete problems in development.

For those men and women seeking disciplined academic inquiry into practical issues in real estate, we offer a variety of courses, degrees, and programs geared toward every stage in a professional career:
