Buy, Sell, Hold: Real Estate Portfolio Management Today

Course Overview

Why invest in real estate anyway?  Is it time to buy, sell, or hold? What are the theoretical underpinnings and what do they say about today’s rapidly changing market? This intensive one-day course will use lectures, industry experts, and a case study to help participants to think like a real estate portfolio manager to analyze the risks and rewards of public and private real estate through the use of debt and equity investing.  This course is appropriate for institutional investors, family businesses, entrepreneurial owners, lenders, real estate attorneys and generally those who seek a deeper understanding of real estate investing and a framework for sound decision-making. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the role of real estate in a diversified investment portfolio and the work of the portfolio manager

  • Make sound real estate investments in the current economic climate

  • Invest in real estate – why, how much, what, where, and when

  • Create a superior real estate investment strategy 

Instructor:

Scott Oran is the Managing Director and Founder of Dinosaur Capital Partners, a firm that invests private equity in real estate. He has 25 years of real estate industry experience and previously was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Real Estate and a Partner at TA Associates Realty. Scott has a BSE in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Course Fee:  $850
The program fee covers tuition, course reader, continental breakfast, and light refreshments. Registration and payment must be made at least one week prior to the course start date.  Course information, including the reader, will be made available once payment is received.
