Registration & Payment Options

On-line with Credit Card

To register for courses on-line with a credit card, click on the link found with the course descriptions. This will take you to our on-line e-commerce site where you can enroll in one or multiple courses.

By Mail with Check

To register by mail with a check, please print and complete a registration form and mail or fax it to the address below. Checks should be made payable to MIT Center for Real Estate.

Wire Transfer

For payment by wire, complete a registration form and mail or fax it to the address below and follow the wire instructions.

Registration Deadline

The registration deadline is one week prior to the course start date unless otherwise stated in the course description or the course reaches maximum enrollment.

Refunds and Credits

Cancellation Policy—A $275 Administrative Fee will be applied to any cancellation at any time. Cancellation of a registration within 10 days of the first day of class is subject to the full registration fee. To withdraw from a course, participants must do so in writing 10 business days prior to the first day of class.

A participant may choose to receive a credit in the full amount (minus Adminstrative Fee) to be applied towards another course within the subsequent 12 calendar months.  A credit letter will be issued and must be presented to the MIT Center for Real Estate at the time of future enrollment.

Course Cancellation

The MIT Center for Real Estate reserves the right to cancel a course up to two weeks prior to the start date due to insufficient enrollment.  In the event of a course cancellation, participants will be refunded the full amount paid.  MIT Center for Real Estate will not be held responsible for any non-refundable travel costs incurred by a participant in association with attending a course.

Public and Non-profit Scholarships

To support the professional practice of public agencies and non-profit organizations, the Center for Real Estate encourages leadership and development by offering a limited number of partial (50%) scholarships to professionals in these areas.

To apply, individuals must submit 1) Personal Statement on organization's letterhead, 2) Resume, & 3) Letter of Recommendation from the Applican't supervisor. For further details: Scholarship Application Requirements. We are still accepting applications for 2013.

Directions and Parking

The MIT Vistors Guide has directions for arriving at MIT via public transportaion and by car, including parking recommendations. The Center is located in room 343 of Building 9 on the MIT Campus Map.

Overnight Accommodations

Course fees do not include overnight accommodations. MIT does make campus housing in the Warehouse (graduate dormitory) available to course participants.  All arrangement must be made through the MIT Summer Guest Housing program.  When booking please ask for the Department Sponsored Guest rate.

General Course Information

Daily Schedule

Typically, classes begin at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm with short breaks in the morning and afternoon and an hour break for lunch.  Some courses continue into the evening with a reception. Participants receive a more detailed schedule two to three weeks in advance of the course start date.  Registration begins 30 minutes prior to the start of the course.

Classroom Location

The Center’s professional development courses take place at locations across the MIT campus.  Information regarding exact course locations will be provided in the confirmation email.

Program Materials

In most cases reading materials will be available in advance of the course start date through the MIT Stellar site.  A hard copy of reading materials will be distributed on the first day of class.  Participants should pay special attention to the confirmation email for any instructions regarding advance reading and/or other types of assignments.

Meals

A continental breakfast and light refreshment in the morning and afternoon will be provided each day. Lunch will not be provided.  Approximately one hour will be set aside for lunch, please plan accordingly. A list of area eating establishments will be included in the packet of information provided on the first day of class. There are many lunch choices within walking distance of the Center.

Computers

We recommend that you bring a laptop if you will need a computer during your stay.  Participants will not have access to MIT computers. However, you will have wireless access.  Please be aware that some courses may require participants bring a computer to complete in-class activities.

Attire

The appropriate attire is business casual for all courses unless otherwise indicated.  Weather in New England is quite variable and we recommend checking a weather forecast before packing.
