News - Rivastava ‘03 Wins PREA Scholarship
The Pension Real Estate Association awarded a $2500 scholarship to Rohit Srivastava, a member of the MIT MSRED Class of 2003. Rohit was one of eight 2002 scholarship recipients. Graduate students in Real Estate at leading universities competed for the awards by submitting entries to an essay contest. Rohit’s winning essay was entitled, Future Opportunities, Risks and Challenges that Institutional Investors like Pension Funds May Find in Real Estate Markets.

For the last nine years Rohit has been a practicing architect working on development projects in Mauritius, Mexico, Japan, Korea, USA, Uganda, Seychelles and India. He initially worked at Design Plus, a large architectural practice, as a project manager before moving on to Plan India Group, a progressive, high energy architectural practice based in New Delhi. Here he built significant expertise in project planning, design development and construction management. In 1998, after becoming a partner in the firm he led joint-venture teams from his office to Mauritius and Uganda for large institutional and health-care projects. At MIT, he is focusing on real estate finance, securitization of real estate and secondary mortgage markets. His wife Shweta and year-old son Ayoush are spending the year with him in Cambridge.
