The artwork on the current MIT home page was painted by Changhuei Yang, chyang@mit.edu, a graduate fellow at MIT in the field of biomedical imaging using lasers and interferometers.
The pastel is called The Moment and it depicts the transient airy feel of a late autumn afternoon at the Bexley bus stop, across from the main entrance of MIT. Changhuei Yang's pastels were on show at the Wiesner Gallery at the MIT Student Center from 23 February - 16 March, and at the Upstairs @ Johnson's Art Gallery, 353 Newbury St, Boston (4 Apr - 26 Apr). Amrys Williams, MIT undergraduate and member of the Web Communications Services (WCS) team, designed the current variation of the MIT home page to showcase Yang's painting.
