The MIT letteforms created by laser lights were configured by Scott Miller, at Postdoctoral Associate in MIT's Department of Chemistry. Lasers such as this one recently helped MIT researchers, Professor Daniel Nocera and former MIT graduate student Alan Heyduk, invent a catalyst that produces hydrogen gas with the help of a zap of laser light.

The lasers used to create today's homepage graphic were photographed by Chris Sherrill of MIT's Web Communications Services.
