General Info

The first step in joining the Cross Products is an audition. Auditions are held twice a year, once at the end of the spring term and once at the beginning of the fall term. Those who decide to join are expected to commit to sing for the following school year (fall & spring).

Although auditions are only officially held twice a year, they can also be arranged upon request - just send email to crossproducts@mit.edu.

Audition Process

The initial audition takes about 15 minutes. During this time we will determine various things such as your range and how loud you can sing, and then ask you to sing a short solo piece without accompaniment. Sometime after this initial audition we will contact you to let you know whether we would like you to return for a callback audition.

The callback audition ranges from 45 minutes to an hour. Half of this audition will be an interview. The interview helps us to learn a little bit about you, and is also a time for you to ask us questions about what membership in Cross Products is like. The latter half of the audition is the musical portion, where we try to determine the depth of your musical experience.
