Issues

Category  Date  Status  Owner  Description
Service   closed wdc It is important to properly specify how backup will work
Design   closed wdc Images should be fetchable via web, ftp, deinst, and other means
Design   closed wdc A sensible mechanism for submitting new images should be developed
Design   closed wdc This project is synergistic with the Thesis image delivery project.
Design   closed wdc Digiments look like a good way to organize and refer to the items in the repository
Design   closed wdc Proper interface between the image repository and digiments must be architected. (gave up on digiments. using dienst)
Design   closed lcs Assess vulnerability of Image Server machne and bring it up to an acceptable level of security.
Design   closed Saltzer Establish copyright and access policy on documents.
Service   open wdc Determine an acceptable "service model" for the NCSTRL service, including availabily, and software maintenance/evolution.
???   open lcs Preservation: How can we assure the current collection has any degree of permanence? Esp. for new (and some old) documents not on the "archival" CD-ROMs.
???   open lcs, etc. Decide when we are "done" reprocessing the archival media from Library2000, since the few that are left take the most effort to process .
Design   open wdc, etc. Ownership: Since the content is controlled by LCS & AI Lab, why is the Library (and I/S) responsible for this service?  Many other Dienst sites appear to be run by the Computer Science department. Note that the Libraries don't even have many of the new CS-TRs in any paper form.
