Problem Statement:

Currently, the villagers in Mwape, Zambia operate a ram oil press that is counter-intuitive to use and leads to sub-optimal oil extraction from groundnuts. We propose to design and build an oil press which will allow the villagers to extract oil from oilseeds, such as groundnuts, intuitively and efficiently. It will be easy to manufacture from available parts found in the nearby town of Lusaka, simple to maintain and use, and be human-powered.
