Cook beans in 6 cups water for 1 hour if beans are dried, or 1/2 hour if beans are fresh. 2. Take 1/2 cup of beans out of pot and mash them with 1 cup of bean liquid. Return mashed beans to pot. 3. Heat oil in small frying pan, in medium heat. Fry onions, garlic, and ground spices for 5 minutes and add to beans. 4. Add cloves and salt. 5. Cook beans, uncovered, for 1/2 hour on low-medium heat. 6. You want bean liquid to be thick and tender. Cooking time: 2 hours. Serves: 6 to 8
