K. Levni: Searches for an Imaginary Kingdom

September 19 November 1, 2002

Curated by Michelle Fiorenza

The act of painting/drawing leads towards a moment of absorption in a sensed or perceived unity. I seek to deepen my relationship to a unified present while acknowledging the persistence and multiplicity of the past. By unfolding a response to simple, often architectural forms, I am able to explore interactions between increasingly complex moments. The Imaginary Kingdommapped by my work reveals a history of perception that allows me to witness the compression of time and to participate in the dialogues between memory and body, material and meaning, language and intuition.
