"Optimism: A 3D Experience"
by Frances G. Pratt, Sculptor

February 6 - March 12, 1997

My sculptured forms seek to convey a spirit of optimism. The more I read and hear about violence, killings and the negative in our society today, the more intent I become on my original goal of creating sculpture that will provide a positive and uplifting experience to those who experience it. My works are inspired by the symmetries and rhythms in Nature. I experiment intuitively with the different relationships of curves, straight lines and volumes, an exploration which produces fluid and/or energetic three-dimensional shapes. These are then distilled into organic or geometric abstractions which frequently invite touching by the viewer.
