Sal Puleo:
Mirage

November 17, 1994 - January 27, 1995

While suffering from a back injury four years ago, I became interested in painting. I began watching artist Bob Ross on Television and became intrigued with his wet on wet system. This system consists of coating a canvas with liquid white, which makes the canvas very slippery. This process allows the colors to blend together easily with minimal effort. This method is for oil paint and allowed me to develop my own style as time went on.

I paint in all three mediums watercolor, oil, and acrylic, but I like oil and acrylic the best. I prefer working with acrylic due to the ease -- acrylic is waterbase, dries quickly and is non-toxic.

Prior to my back injury, I was a pursuing photography as a hobbyist and was intrigued by the way lights, darks, shadows, and reflections. could be manipulated to create different images on film. This same principal is true with painting. by the way light is portrayed through the use of color, line and form which help create different effects and illusions. The paintings in this show is a group of Landscapes which reflect this principal. Enjoy the show.
