I-Teams will be offered again in the Spring of 2009 (not in the Fall of 2008). Please check back during the fall of 2008 for a preview of the Spring '09 projects. To learn about the projects we've included in previous i-Teams classes, please explore the links to the left.
Are you interested in commercializing an MIT innovation? Would
you enjoy working with leading-edge technologies and MIT's preeminent
labs? I-Teams (2.937, 10.807, and 15.371) seeks entrepreneurial
graduate students to bring innovation to the marketplace. Apply
now to participate in this course. I-Teams meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6:30pm.
When you join an i-Team (short for "Innovation Team"), you spend a semester collaborating
with MIT research labs and mentors from the business community.
Your team
assesses the commercial prospects of scientific and engineering
breakthroughs emerging from MIT labs. The projects are selected by the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation. You're guided
by the labs' Principal Investigators, i-Teams faculty director Ken Zolot, and leaders of local businesses. Together we determine
technological directions and identify product markets. I-Teams is a hands-on, action-based learning experience. This is not just about studying how it's done. You and your team will perform the actual work with a living, breathing MIT invention. The class is demanding and high-profile. You'll meet and work with people at the forefront of their fields, both with technological and business expertise. An admissions committee will carefully select students to serve on teams. Before the semester begins, you will be matched with other very qualified students.
