i-Teams will NOT be offered during the Fall 2008 semester. Applications for the spring '09 class will be accepted starting in October of 2008. Please check back soon.

Who Should Take i-Teams?

This course is for graduate students from across campus (and visiting campuses) who are interested in technology commercialization. We are looking for students with relevant and varied backgrounds.

The technologies selected for i-Teams have strong commercial potential and significant research invested. I-Teams students receive unique exposure to ground-breaking lab innovations, mentoring and guest lectures from leaders of the local business community, and invitation-only access to special VIP networking events. Therefore, the selection process for Innovation Teams will be rigorous and competitive. Student applicants should have relevant professional experience or research experience, and/or a strong entrepreneurial drive and willingness to invest substantial time and effort to help bring these technologies to market. We are seeking students from across campus (or from visiting campuses) and in many disciplines. Typically a team will contain four or five students: two with a management and/or industry background, two with a science and/or engineering background, and one with a skill set matched to the project, or possibly law or public policy.

How to Apply

For application instructions, download our application FAQ, which includes submission procedures. You can also join our mailing list for i-Teams applicants. If there are any changes to the projects or announcements prior to the first class, we will send an email to this list. Add yourself by visiting this link: iteams-apply.

Selection Process

An evaluation committee composed of i-Teams faculty, the project lab director, and "catalyst" (business mentor) associated with each project will evaluate the applicants. We aim to assemble teams with varied backgrounds and skills, and from different parts of campus (or from visiting schools). For more details, please refer to the syllabus. Last semester's syllabus is here.
