HIGH THROUGHPUT CELL MICROINJECTOR
Innovation Grant

Klavs Jensen
Department of Chemical Engineering

Scientific progress in areas ranging from stem cell research to cancer biology has been slowed by the inability of researchers to efficiently inject large molecules into cells. This problem also makes it more difficult to bring new experimental therapies into clinical practice. Microinjection is currently considered the gold standard to deliver the compounds across the cell membrane into living cells, however it is inefficient, costly, and currently only reserved for very specific applications.

This project seeks to create a prototype of an automated microinjector that promises high-throughput delivery of any molecule or nanoparticle into single cells to accelerate laboratory research.
