A WEARABLE SENSOR FOR CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING FOR DIABETICS

Fall 2009

Michael Strano
Department of Chemical Engineering

Diabetes patients require frequent monitoring of blood glucose so they can take action to avoid complications due to frequent hyper- and hypoglycemia (blood sugar levels). This project will develop a carbon nanotube based, minimally invasive, tissue implantable, “wearable' sensor that can measure and report a patient's glucose levels on a continuous basis, allowing much better glucose control and resulting in better patient health.
