Thesis Abstract: Time-varying Transportation Network Modeling and Optimization for Space Logistics
|
An appropriate logistic plan is essential for the sustainable future space exploration. A lot of studies for modeling and optimizing terrestrial
logistics have been carried out since World-War-II. But the logistics problem with an application to the space exploration has not been deeply investigated.
One of the main differences in the space logistics from the terrestrial logistics is that the nodes are moving. Required transportation time and energy are
also varying according to the nodal motions. This time-variant feature of the transportation time and energy does not exist in the terrestrial logistics problem
and has little been understood.
In this research, a time varying network model which can well represent the space transportation is created. An optimization technique which can effectively
deal with the time-varying network model is developed. The model and optimization technique are verified using realistic scenario for the long-term space
exploration.
