This IAP course introduces you to Design that Matters (the non-profit) and the ideas driving it. We're looking for a group
of crazy inventors to dive into a week-long concept development and prototyping blitz to develop a learning tool for elementary
school students in Bangladesh. DtM will provide the project background and details on our client, and a summary of the project
work accomplished to date. You will provide truckloads of energy, enthusiasm and ideas. The specific course meeting details
will be announced on Dec 14th. Space is limited and we want to built a superstar team. When registering for the course,
please send a short motivational statement on why you want to take the course, and a summary of your background and skills.

The UN Millennium Report: An International Response to Global Environmental Challenges

Dr. Matthew Gardner, Executive Director of the MIT Earth Science Initiative, will present an overview of the UN
Millennium Report which identifies environmental challenges as well as recommendations for action on global environmental
issues. Ms. Flores Xanat Flores, PhD Candidate, Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory,(CEE) will report on an MIT response to the
Millennium Report: the SODIS (SOlar DISinfection) Bags Project which focuses on creating simple and inexpensive solutions
to purify water in rural communities in developing countries by using solar radiation to disinfect microbially contaminated water.
