MILOS
Pictures taken by Dimitri and Joanna Bertsekas
during a June 2003 trip to Milos, a volcanic Greek island with extraordinarily beautiful and
colorful rocky coastline, and rich mineral wealth.
A dramatic episode of the Peloponesian war, centering around Milos (416 B.C.), is
recounted by Thucydides in the Milian dialogue, a
classic account of imperialist politics, which strikingly echoes today's world.
