There’s No Place Like...MIT House Dining!
MIT has five outstanding
House Dining operations, all recently built or renovated to each provide
a unique, attractive and comfortable setting. Each house offers students the opportunity
to socialize and wind down after a long day of academic pursuits and
to recharge for the evening’s study or activities to follow.
Students give House Dining operations high marks for the variety, taste
and eye appeal of the food as well as for their inviting décor.
House Dining also offers a special Preferred Dining Membership.
All House Dining Locations are:
Open to ALL - Regardless of your residence, if you have
an MIT ID Card, you are welcome to dine at all house dining locations. You don’t
have to live in a residence hall to enjoy House Dining or become
a Preferred Dining Member.
Open to New Ideas - Chefs are encouraged to develop
their own unique style of cooking, producing great food presented with
flair and imagination. Dining staff are friendly and often get to know
students personally, tailoring menus to individual tastes.
Open to your Requests - Students actively participate
in the menu development and other service aspects of the House Dining
locations where they live. Whether it’s favorite recipes from
home or a dish from a local restaurant, House Dining chefs work diligently
to customize their programs to meet student demands. In addition, MIT Campus Dining and MIT Medical work together to provide
personal attention and find service solutions for students with special
dietary requirements wherever possible.
Ambiance and Aromas
House Dining locations offer comfortable and inviting
surroundings. With award-winning architecture, views
of the Charles River and Boston skyline and decors to rival the best
restaurants in the city, House Dining rooms are a true escape from the
academic rigors of MIT.
Cuisine is always prepared from scratch with
the best and freshest ingredients available. We are conscious of the demands of our students and conscientious about where
our food comes from. Chicken is raised antibiotic free, coffee is fair
trade, and local produce is used in-season, just a few examples of our
commitment to quality ingredients. In addition to the thoughtfully prepared
entrees offered daily. House Dining patrons have a cornucopia of cooked-to-order
choices. All operations have display cooking where your personal choices
are prepared exactly to your specifications.
From a simple grilled chicken
sandwich to a personalized shrimp and scallop seafood stir-fry, you know
what’s going into your dinner, because you see it prepared start
to finish. All operations also enjoy extensive salad bars and other hot
and cold build-your-own menu options.
