TechCash account
TechCASH
is accepted wherever you see this logo. Your TechCASH account can be
used for ALL campus services, including food purchases
where Dining Dollars are accepted. If you choose to keep only a TechCASH
account, you will need to manage your food and non-food purchases within
this account carefully as this account is not restricted to food only. In
addition to meal purchases, TechCASH services include convenience store
purchases, residential laundry facilities, CopyTech centers, the MIT
COOP, textbook purchases, haircuts and a growing list of other services.
If based on your residential choice you plan to prepare a number of meals
for yourself and shop more extensively at convenience store locations, we
recommend that you allocated more funds to your TechCASH account.
Students - You will have a TechCASH account
established in your name prior to arriving at MIT. However, you must
fund your account in order to use your MIT ID to make meal purchases.
The amount you deposit is entirely up to you, but recommendations on
deposit levels that will appropriately cover your meal expenses are listed
below.
Unlike most schools where it’s “use it or lose it”,
TechCASH account balances at MIT are always reimbursed in full. You or
a family member can add funds to your account on-line at any time. You
can also suspend your card’s TechCASH function or close your account
at any time.
Purchases are deducted from your account just like a bank debit card.
Your TechCASH account remains open for your entire MIT career unless
you close it or it remains inactive for more than 120 days.
Employees - A payroll deduction authorization
form must be completed to enroll. These forms are available in the Card
Services office in W20-021, or print
out the form and mail it to their office. All purchases made during
the pay period will be deducted from the next pay check.
To make a TechCASH deposit, please go to the MIT Card Office web site
