WELCOME TO DELTA KAPPA EPSILON SIGMA TAU CHAPTER
Hello and welcome to the website of the Sigma Tau chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon: I am very proud to say that the Delta Kappa Epsilon Sigma Tau chapter has continued it’s tradition of excellence and leadership on the MIT campus. This was made possible by an excellent group of officers who have kept the house running smoothly. Garth Grove ’09 has provided excellent leadership as the chapter’s vice president and risk manager. Ryan MacDowell ’09, the house treasurer, has continued to perform very well with the incredibly difficult job of managing the chapter’s finances. Brian Mickle ’10, our chapter’s house manager, has been going a great job of keeping the house clean. Tyler Liechty ’10, the house social chair, did a great job to take our minds off of academics with some great parties and mixers. Finally, Kevin Boehm, the house steward, has kept a close relationship with our chef, Tom Egan, and done a great job at ensuring that every brother was happy with the meal plan. If you are walking around the DKE house in the New Year, you might see some new faces. Our recruitment chair, Sean Jameson ’10, facilitated a very successful rush that resulted in 8 freshmen pledging to Delta Kappa Epsilon. We are happy to welcome Douglas Blake, William Dougherty, Patrick Jupe, Edan Krolewicz, William Santos, Tyler Wagner, Kristopher Weaver, and Theodore Tzanetos as the 2012 DKE Sigma Tau pledge class. As always, the DKE brothers at MIT continued their participation and leadership in MIT athletics. James Oleinik ’09 and Dave Nackoul ’09 were senior captains of an MIT football team (which included 25 DKE brothers) that achieved a 5-5 record in the New England Football Conference this year, the best in a decade. This winter we had a brother, Stephen Yablonski ’11, dominate as the starting goalie for the MIT hockey team, a team which won their first game of the playoff against a tought Bryant opponent, and Sean Jameson ’10 and Kristopher Weaver ’12 represent the house on the MIT wrestling team. However, now that winter is over, we look forward to cheering on the DKE brothers participating in track and field, and lacrosse. Tony MacDonald ’10 and Douglas Blake ’12 participate in the throwing events for the track team. And in the spring, Ryan MacDowell ’09, Will Gibson ’10, and Garth Grove ’10 will all play for MIT lacrosse. With the welcoming of a new pledge class, comes the sad duty of saying goodbye to the senior class. Many of the graduating class are leaving MIT to start their careers in a number of different fields, and the rest will be off to graduate school. Whatever their destination, we wish them the best of luck and hope they will always remember the good times they had here at Delta Kappa Epsilon. James Oleinik ‘09 President, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Tau Chapter
