Sigma Tau Continues to See Nothing but Improvements

Our chapter has seen many changes over the past year most importantly are the newest members of our fraternity:  Alex Rubino ’10, Brian Mickle ’10, Garth Grove ’10, Jordan Meenen ’10, Sean Jamson ’10, Tony MacDonald ’10, Tyler Liechty ’10, Will Gibson ’10, and Zach Rose ’10.  Every member of the pledge class of ’10 was initiated, and I think I speak for the entire house when I say I am excited about what these new men can bring to our chapter.  Each member of this class is a gentleman and a scholar.  They will undoubtedly contribute a great deal to what makes this house remarkable.
We also held our officer elections this past winter.  James Oleinik ’09 will be taking over as our Vice President/Risk Manager.  Ryan MacDowell is now the House Treasurer.  He is doing very well with the incredibly difficult job of managing the houses finances.  Our new house manager, Paul Groudas ’08, is doing a great job of keeping the house clean, and is currently supervising a number of renovations in the house.  Gene Settoon ’08 has become our new social chair, and Charles Fisher ’08 is now the House Steward.  Dave Nackoul ’09 is our new recruitment chair.  Dave is already working very hard to organize a successful CPW and rush.
In other news, many of the brothers of DKE have begun their winter and spring sports.  Now that football season is over, lacrosse, wrestling, and track have become the major sports of our house.  Both James Oleinik ’09 and Tony MacDonald ’10 throw hammer, discus, and shot-put for the track team.  Will Gibson ’10 runs the 200m.  Sean Jameson ’10 has done a great job representing our house on the wrestling team this year.  He has done very well in his past tournaments, and continues to excel.  Many brothers have also joined the lacrosse team.  Mark Spadafora ’08, Sam Jasinski ’08, Ryan MacDowell ’09, Will Gibson ’10, and Garth Grove ’10 all play for MIT lacrosse.
With the welcoming of a new pledge class, comes the sad duty of saying goodbye to the seniors.  Many of the graduating class are leaving MIT to start their careers in a number of different fields.  We wish them the best of luck and hope they will always remember the good times they had here at Delta Kappa Epsilon.
