The switch machine mounts on the bottom of the turnout. With a Styrofoam base, the switch machine fits into a space cut out for it.

The table is a convenient storage space for train-related things. This makes it a bit messy. I've started to glue down the roadbed at this point, though. The hole for the switch machine is visible at the far right.

The turnout away from its home. The pins in the switch machine go through corresponding holes in the plastic; to actually mount it with cork roadbed, you need to cut holes in the cork so everything fits together in the right order.
