Research Assistant position available to work on the mechanical properties of aerogels.  Aerogels are known for their low thermal conductivity but are brittle and have poor mechanical properties, limiting their use.  This joint project with Professors Glicksman of the Building Technology Group in the Department of Architecture and Professor Chen of the Department of Mechanical Engineering aims to develop aerogels with improved thermal and mechanical properties for retrofitting to existing buildings.  Project sponsored by the DuPont MIT Alliance.
