Research Summary

Multiple layers of non-adherent immune cells can be deposited on a surface by assembling biocompatible and biodegradable natural polymers on the top of a monolayer of immune cells by a layer-by-layer sequential deposition technique. We used this methodology to design three dimensional immune cells structure that maintain cell viability. This novel structure of immune cells was based on the cell surface receptor CD44-hyaluronic acid interaction and can be used for a wide range of applications such as fundamental immunological studies, cell-based biosensors and tissue engineering
